ManyPets pet insurance review

Verdict
ManyPets is the most modern, owner-friendly major UK pet insurer in 2026. It now runs a tiered lifetime range — from Essential Care up to Complete Care, plus a Standard Care Pre-existing option that can cover some prior conditions — with an app-first claims process, a generous multi-pet discount and no upper age limit when you take out a new policy. Underwriting sits with Wakam SA and SCOR UK Company Limited. It is our best overall pick for most UK dog and cat owners. It loses half a point because a 20% co-payment applies to every claim once your pet turns 7, death from illness is not covered once a pet reaches 9, and renewal premiums can climb steeply on older pets.

Who ManyPets is
ManyPets launched in 2018 as Bought By Many, an insurer built around the idea that owners would get a fairer deal if they bought collectively rather than individually through brokers and aggregators. It rebranded to ManyPets in 2021 and has since become one of the largest pet insurers in the UK by new business. Underwriting sits with Wakam SA and SCOR UK Company Limited, and the operation runs online-first, with a mobile app at the centre of the experience.
What you actually get
ManyPets sells a tiered lifetime range: Essential Care, Standard Care, Complete Care, and a Standard Care Pre-existing option that can cover some conditions your pet has already shown signs of. Each is a lifetime policy, meaning conditions diagnosed during the policy continue to be covered year after year provided you keep renewing without a break. You choose your annual vet-fee limit — up to £20,000 on the top Complete Care option — and your excess, from £69 charged once a year rather than per condition, at quote time.
Beyond core vet fees, the plans include dental illness cover (subject to routine-care conditions) and complementary therapies prescribed by a vet. Behavioural treatment is included on the Complete Care tier only, so check the tier you pick if that matters to you. Travel cover and third-party liability for dogs are usually included. As ever, the policy wording is the source of truth. Read it before you buy.
Claims experience
ManyPets’ biggest strength is its claims process. Most claims are submitted online or through the app: you upload the invoice and clinical notes, and the team processes from there. At participating vet practices, ManyPets can pay the vet directly so you do not have to front the bill. Owner reports on Trustpilot and on independent UK forums consistently describe the process as faster and less frustrating than legacy insurers, though as with every insurer, complex claims involving long-running conditions still take time and sometimes generate disputes.
Pricing
Pricing varies dramatically by your pet’s species, breed, age, where you live in the UK, and the vet-fee limit and excess you choose. ManyPets is generally competitive across the market for young to middle-aged pets, and is often cheaper than the legacy heritage brands for equivalent cover. Like all lifetime insurers, premiums tend to rise as your pet ages. That is a structural feature of the product, not specific to ManyPets.
The only honest way to know what ManyPets will cost you is to get a quote.
Customer service
Service is overwhelmingly digital: chat, app messaging, email. There is phone support for urgent matters but it is not the front door. For owners who like to speak to a human, this can feel stark. For owners who prefer not to sit on hold, it is a feature, not a bug.
Veterinary perspective
"ManyPets handles routine vet-fee claims well in our experience at the practice end. Long-running chronic conditions are where any insurer gets tested, and that is where we will keep the score under review."

Who ManyPets is best for
- +Tech-comfortable owners who want to manage policy and claims from a phone.
- +Multi-pet households who want a single insurer covering everyone with an automatic discount.
- +Owners insuring a young to middle-aged pet who want lifetime cover at a competitive price.
- +Owners of older pets taking out cover for the first time, thanks to no upper age limit at sign-up.
Who should look elsewhere
- ×Owners of pets aged 7 or over should note ManyPets applies a 20% co-payment to every claim from that age — weigh the total cost against Agria or Petplan.
- ×Phone-first owners may suit Petplan, John Lewis or Tesco better.
- ×Owners of high-risk pedigree breeds who want a specialist that prices breed risk more granularly should consider Agria.
