Veterinary advisor, PetCoverPro

Background

Dr Taitz qualified as a vet with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) and has spent his career in small-animal practice. He is the founder and principal vet at Vetcare Clinic, where he sees companion animals every day across general medicine, surgery and emergency consultations. He has worked across thousands of insurance claims from the clinic side of the desk, which means he has a direct view of which insurers actually pay, which insurers query reasonable claims, and where common policy exclusions catch owners out in real life.

Role at PetCoverPro

Dr Taitz reviews PetCoverPro editorial guidance to make sure the way we describe cover, claims processes and clinical conditions is accurate. That includes the language we use for pre-existing conditions, lifetime versus time-limited cover, dental cover, behavioural cover, and how chronic conditions like atopic skin disease, arthritis and diabetes are typically claimed against.

Where a brand review or buying guide makes a clinical claim, Dr Taitz signs off on the wording before publication. When his clinical view differs from a marketing claim made by an insurer, the editorial reflects his view, not the insurer's.

Independence and conflicts of interest

Dr Taitz holds no equity in, board seat at, or paid commercial relationship with any UK pet insurer or pet insurance affiliate network. He is paid for his time as PetCoverPro's veterinary advisor; he is not paid by any insurer to promote a product. If that ever changes, we will update this page and add a note to any review affected.

A note from Dr Taitz

Pet insurance is one of the most useful and most misunderstood products an owner will ever buy. The policy wording almost always contains the answer to the question you only think to ask after your dog or cat is unwell. PetCoverPro's job is to translate those wordings into language that owners can act on before they need them.

Anything specific to your pet

The guidance on this site is general consumer information, not a substitute for veterinary advice. Anything specific to your pet's age, breed or current condition should go through your own vet first.
